Our Story

Everyone needs an Aibou.

相棒 (Aibou) is a Japanese word for a partner, companion, or trusted teammate—the person beside you as you take on whatever comes next.

For us, that isn't just a name. It's personal.

Aibou was created by Charles and Yurino, an American travel photographer and a Japanese international teacher. We're husband and wife, partners, and each other's Aibou.

Between us, travel has been a constant part of our lives. We've explored the world separately and together, crossed borders, experienced new cultures, and built a life that rarely stays in one place for very long.

Through all of it, we've learned something simple:

Finding your Aibou changes the adventure.

The places matter. The experiences matter. But who—and what—you bring along becomes part of the story.

That's the idea behind Aibou.

Designed in Japan

Every Aibou collection begins with original artwork created by Yurino in Japan.

Our five signature collections—鳥居 Torii, 波 Wave, 桜 Sakura, 菖蒲 Iris, and 竹 Bamboo—are inspired by the landscapes, seasons, imagery, and culture of Japan.

Rather than putting those designs on something meant to stay on a wall, we wanted them on the things that actually go with you.

The phone case that's in your hand every day. The journal that collects your thoughts. The passport cover that crosses borders with you. The luggage tag that's there every time another journey begins.

Things that become part of your everyday life—and part of your adventures.

Made for Adventure

We don't think adventure only happens thousands of miles from home.

It can be a flight across the world, a weekend somewhere new, the train to work, a walk through your own city, or simply whatever you're doing tomorrow.

That's why Aibou is built around everyday carry and travel: useful things designed to stay by your side.

Choose the design that feels like yours. Take it somewhere. Let it collect stories.

Wherever you're going, bring your Aibou.
